“American Music” 72″ x 48″ Price$7800 Music at its core, is the great equalizer for the United States. Artists and styles crossed racial boundaries in order to be heard. Color didn’t matter to music, when people just wanted to hear the best the world had to offer. My father, growing up in the racist South, snuck his radio under the covers to listen to the music that moved him. BB King, Chuck Berry and Little Richard were a huge part of his upbringing, but he had to hide his love of that music from his parents. The saloon depicted is more than a bar. It is the melting pot and soil where the roots of American Music gained purchase. The highway signs on the wall are from the Crossroads in Mississippi, where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil. They were also the same crossroads that would get you out of the persecuted South. The portraits on the wall are from Muddy Waters and Hank Williams. The party and the soul of the night all takes place at the crossroads of that junction.
