“The king the boy the man the rock the sun” 56″ x 40″ x 2″ Price Range: $400 – $4,000 The process of my work and the stories it is meant to narrate overlap to become inseparable from one another. I use a collage of found things; paper, fabrics, book pages, and discarded photos as a modular storybook for the paint on its surface. These layers of things that have passed through the hands and lives of others over time serve as a surface rich in texture, color, pattern, and invented story to the landscape painted on its surface. Thick layers of oil paint are meant to simplify and organize the often-overwhelming language of the collage: covering, narrating, and revealing areas of the collage under-painting through a process of thick application and intaglio-like removal. The objects, images, and text that hint through the oil paint tell stories of age, parenthood, reinvented histories, and imagined futures, which like the collage and paint of my process, overlap, interrelate, and become interdependent of one another.
