“Cinder Cone” 10″ x 10″ x 10″ Price Range: $100 – $3,000 My current work is an exploration of texture and pattern. I begin by gathering molten glass on a blowpipe, and then fusing glass powders, frits, murrini, and stringers, to the glass surface. By using unconventional techniques along with the inherent chemistry of the metal oxides that formulate the colored glass, I am able to create very complex patterns that imitate natural objects or landscapes. My simple forms and shapes are intended to act as a canvas for glass cases to inhabit. However, the blowing process is only half of the journey. After being blown in the hot shop, the pieces are taken to the cold shop. In the cold shop, the pieces are engraved, carved, or sandblasted to remove layers of color on the surface and reveal the interior colors. In the final stage of creation, the piece is acidly etched to give the surface a soft matte finish.

“I-40 West” 7.75″ x 7.75″ Price Range: $175 – $300 Tiny intimate landscapes that yield a shared nostalgia among viewers. The small scale allows for the work to exist as a cherished object (rather than an expansive display of grandeur ) and calls for personal engagement with the painting. The graphic bars nestled below the landscapes are both a visual component meant to ground the painting, and also serve as a unifying element for the body of work as a whole. This series is an adaptation of the long-standing figurative tradition of recording our surroundings, but I’ve incorporated a contemporary graphic element to leave a lasting impression when they are displayed together.
