Program Details

The Mobile Art Gallery (MAG) includes several educational tools that help teachers and community leaders turn MAG into a more robust educational experience. A MAG docent guide highlights how different artists create their work. Each piece in the gallery includes a take-away brochure about the work in both English and Spanish.

At each MAG location, students and community members are involved from installation to breakdown and trained to give tours of the exhibition to others. This instills ownership and actively engages participants in the act of bringing art to others, one of the tenets of CherryArts’ year-round mission.

Testimonials

“The exhibit was beautiful! The kids gained valuable experience and built their vocabulary by acting as art critics and writing about the art.”

Teacher, Flood Middle School

“Many of my kids had never been to an art gallery. I explained that this was a gallery that had come to us and they were very excited about being able to go on an ‘in-school field trip."

Teacher, Flood Middle School

“I can talk about the art and actually know what I am saying.”

Student, Vikan Middle School

“I think this was a great learning experience. I learned that there is much more to art than a picture.”
